Happy Thanksgiving Week!

We've only got one more day.

Science: This is our last week with Miss Cook's class. We may or may not start a new rotation before Christmas.

Social Studies: We'll finish building Rome tomorrow! Your students have been working so hard and it looks great! We'll hopefully be able to display this masterpiece in the hall or the library, so if you're in the school sometime in the next couple of weeks, drop in and take a look.

Math: Your students WILL have math homework over the break, but just one assignment. We'll be taking a test the day after they get back, so I'd like to help them remember as much as they can over the break.

Writing: We are finishing up our first argumentative paper. Overall, I'm very pleased with the hard work of each your students. We have a lot to work on, but they are doing very well.

I hope you have a great Thanksgiving! We'll see you next week!

Week of November 17

Let's make it a great week!

Reading: We are reading Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli together as a class. We are loving it!

Writing: We will hopefully finish up our argumentative papers this week and have them graded by online writing programs. It's our first argumentative paper, so it's tricky, but your kids are trying hard.

Math: Math test TODAY! It's been a hard chapter, we will be revisiting it all year long to make sure everyone has solidified the information. Tomorrow we start a unit on Converting Units of Measure.

Science: Moon Phases with Miss Cook

Social Studies: We are building ROME! The kids are really getting into it.

Report Cards will come home with students on Friday afternoon.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Week of November 10

It's finally feeling like Fall outside!

Here we are at another week.

Math: We will be finishing up our unit with percents. It's tricky stuff. Parents, if you can check on your students each night and make sure they've tried their very hardest on their homework before coming to school. Struggling through these problems is usually the most helpful thing for students.

Reading: We started Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli this week. We will be enjoying his and working on our own creative figurative language.

Writing: We are working on an argumentative paper this week. Should Cheerleading Be Considered A Sport? Students are reading opposing articles, choosing which side they'd like to argue and then backing their claim up with evidence from the texts.

Social Studies: We will be building ROME this week! Students will be in groups and should get their assignments today or tomorrow. I have materials here for them, but any materials brought from home to help build are welcome.

The term ends THIS FRIDAY. I will be submitting grades Thursday night and cannot be changed after that. If your student has missing assignments (they will know if they do, or you can look on Skyward), the MUST be in by Thursday at 3:30.

I will be sending home some extra credit assignments with students who have all their work turned in that would like to boost their grades a little bit. This is all also due by Thursday at 3:30.

As always, students can come in before and after school for help. I'm always here. :)

Let me know if you have any questions!

Week of November 3

Welcome back from Halloween Weekend!
Hope you had lots of fun!

Math: We are working with percents this week. We'll be taking a Mid-Chapter Check-In either Thursday or Friday.

Social Studies: ROME this week. The kids are enjoying talking about their advancements in technology.

Science: Continuing Seasons and Moon Phases with Miss Cook.

Reading: We're really working hard on non-fiction texts. The more non-fiction they can read, the better.

Reading Log was due TODAY. It can be turned in tomorrow and later for partial credit.
